Wednesday Highlights

Work continued to go well on Wednesday...We finished up one job adding baseboards and trim to a room that we've been working on since Monday... We began on Monday by cutting a whole in the floor so that we could climb under the house, lay plastic sheeting, reinforce old and add new floor joists and piers, then we layed new sheet flooring and linoleum, repaired the walls and ceilings and painted everything. We also painted a portion of the exterior, trimmed out the exterior windows, repaired exterior soffet and facia, hung a new door, installed dead bolts, repaired steps, hung a ceiling fan and a variety of other small items.

The power was out for most of the day at our second job site. A bad thunder storm last night evidently brought down several trees on local power lines. We were able to get linoleum layed, and to get paneling finished up as well as trim boards. We hope to finish this job up tomorrow.

We began a third job this afternoon that focused on exterior painting. The homeowner came in after work and was ecstatic that we were there and working on her house. All of our families have been really nice and very appreciative this week.

Tonight we were blessed to have several folks from the community in to talk with us about local challenges and the way folks are working to address these issues. We were blessed to have Senator Bill Laird, The Rev. Dr. Charles Miller, Bill Sohonage and his wife from the Mt. Hope Community Center, and Aletha Stolar from the Fayette County Family Resource Network here to share with and challenge us to make a difference.

Keep us in your prayers as we wind up our week!!!

Blessings from Oak Hill, WV

Rich
